Commitment, the first step to achieve happiness
“In life, the problem comes when you have no courage to face it. Just remember: there is no problem in human life that can`t be solved by a human being. Every cause has an effect – it’s a law of science. I can`t redo laws for you. It is a law. A cause has an effect and an effect must have a cause. This is an immutable law. So is God, so is life. But in this game of cause and effect, sometimes our fuse is off, sometimes we ourselves are off, sometimes our attitudes are disconnected. There is no fault in that. But in good English, commitment failed at this time …”
In the first stage of the Training Course of Kundalini Yoga teachers, we are presented with the seven steps to Happiness! How wonderful! But when we face the first step, then we know that the route will be challenging. Let`s just return to the words of Yogi Bhajan.
“… You fail in its commitment to penetrate your psyche to break the crisis that confronts you. This is the law of cause and effect. It is not a religious law, not even the law of God. It is the law of human happiness. How can we be happy? Is there happiness without commitment? The answer is no.
There are seven steps to happiness. Commit yourself, win good character and then win dignity; when you have self-dignity, you become radiant. You become rich in opportunities. Then, you move to the next step. From the dignity you get divinity. And what is the divinity? When you are not in duality, you have divinity. Usually you say, maybe this, maybe that … but when you have this duality, you don`t have divinity. Then, from the divinity, you have grace. Grace brings you happiness, possibilities, opportunities and understanding …”
And how do you commit yourself? It is not easy to get out of the old thought patterns fed by the garbage that inhabits our subconscious. Everyone has the right to happiness. It`s a right in principle. And how to start and go through this unknown journey whose final destination is happiness?
In the technology`s legacy of Kundalini Yoga left to us by Yogi Bhajan, we find a very coherent map to start this journey towards happiness. In this journey we visit different ways, sometimes very hard, others soft, but that strengthen us to be able to get rid of the fear of being ourselves, to find our true identity, expressing the purpose of our soul. Although the unknown route, although the final destination unknown, we have the opportunity to deliver our head and commit ourselves to our destiny.
Each Kundalini Yoga class turns out to be a metaphor for our own lives, where we are faced with and we face. Where we have the opportunity to experience choices and learn to make conscious choices, creating new mental paths to see ourselves free from unwanted patterns, becoming also free to follow the path towards happiness. No guarantees, but a lot of courage.
Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Gur Ji Ki Fateh!
